HORI Nintendo Switch Split Pad Pro. Would recommend. Fit so well in normal-to-large sized hands.
It is hard to explain but these are solving a problem I didn’t know existed. Playing with the joycons didn’t feel... bad. Just... slightly claustrophobic? With these I feel less anxious and cramped when playing a game.
Downsides are they aren’t powered, aren’t wireless, and don’t have vibration. As such they can’t be used as a controller when disconnected from the Switch and they will drain the Switch’s battery faster because they have to be powered off of it.
Small price to pay for comfort.
Picture of Dog A playing Switch, for your time.

I’ve always been a fan of having asymmetric sticks - one reason (that and difficulty holding a Dual Shock comfortably) I’ve always been a less-than-eager adopter of Sony controller hardware. The thing is, I remembered having gotten used to using the original XBox giant controller and having liked it, so despite the One having quite a good controller, I actually got myself one of the Hyperkin Duke controllers for One. A repro of the original Giant Ridiculous Ham.
And you know what? It has a steeper physical/muscle memory learning curve than the normal One controller, by a long shot, but now I’ve gotten used to it it feels really good. One surprising thing is that it has a better D-pad than a normal controller, and the longer reach makes it easier to use as well.
Of course, I *do* have oddly shaped hands...

I got a pair of those last week and agree with everything you said. I love them!

Yeah, but what are turnips going for in your town today?

I’ve never gotten to my Switch early enough to buy turnips :-(

I bought these SADES G amecube style ones a few months ago and they’ve been fantastic. There’s a bit more to grab onto than the stock joycon but it still fits in my soft case. Unlike yours they work wirelessly and will charge off the Switch.
Only issue I have with them is that the vibration is ridiculously strong. Someone standing fifteen feet away can hear them vibrating.
